Meet Your CFI-I

My name is Andrew Crankshaw. I have always had a passion for aviation. My journey started when I was just 3 years old and got the chance to sit on the flight deck of a Continental flight. From that moment I always wanted to be a pilot, that is until the plane pushed back and I was scared for the next hour and forty-five minutes.  I always told my mom that I wanted to be a pilot and she always made fun of me saying I’d have to overcome my fears of flying first.

The dream of flying stayed with me all throughout my life, with me eventually overcoming my fears of flight. After graduating high-school in Florida, I looked into pursuing a career in aviation. That pursuit went cold and led me to working odd and end jobs for the next few years. I did everything from Warehouse and Inventory management, to fine dining, to being a gas station manager.

It was at that gas station that my life changed forever. Having a rough day, a young man came in wearing a T-shirt that said “Savannah Aviation”. Something inside me told me I needed to inquire about what that was, or I’d regret it for the rest of my life. So I asked, not expecting much. To my surprise, it was a flight school! A flight school in my own back yard.

My aviation career took off! I was enrolled within two days and began learning to fly. From there, my aviation journey took me to Phoenix, Arizona where I ultimately earned my Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, and CFI/CFI-I certificates.

Now I get to share my love for aviation and am building a community to inspire and help future pilots thrive no matter what their path looks like!
